Choosing the Right Hosting Type For Your Website
There are many web hosting types you can choose for your website. The hosting plan you choose will mostly depends on the type of website you build, however different options will require different skill to manage it. Choosing the right web hosting plans can be confusing for some of us. Here are several webhost options available you can choose for your website.
Free Web Hosting Service
The biggest advantage of free hosting is, you don’t have to pay in order to use it. Usually you will need to place advertising on your web pages when using this free host service. Because of this reason, I don’t recommend this if you want to develop business or professional website. Free hosting type is perfect solution for non-business website, personal website, and for new webmasters who want to learn about website development before they use paid hosting service.
Standard Web Hosting Plan
Or sometime also called as shared web hosting plan which is probably the most used hosting plans nowadays. This hosting plan is suitable for small and medium website that doesn’t require a lot of server resources, low bandwidth usage, and small to medium amount of traffics. On a shared plan, just like the name implies, you basically share the server resources with other webmasters who use the same plans, so yes, you have some limitations when using this type of hosting.
Almost all webhosting providers include this plan on their services, since this is the most affordable option for most webmasters. While the prices will be different for each provider, usually you will be able to pay it on monthly or yearly basis. Shared hosting prices range from $1 to $10 per month, depends on the providers you choose and also the features you need. Higher prices usually will give you more features, more spaces, and more bandwidth you can use.
Before deciding which shared hosting plan to choose, make sure you check the features you will get. Compare the prices, since most of us are prices sensitive, and then compare the features you will get for that price.
Dedicated Web Hosting Plan
If your website is large with many daily visitors you will need a better server resources. On this level, a shared hosting will not be enough for you, since you have limited options on that plan. This is the time where you will need to look for a better option, and a dedicated hosting is the right for you since with this plan you don’t have to share the server resources with other users.
If you are looking for dedicated hosting plan, I suggest you to go to big hosting providers. Usually they offer several dedicated server plans you can choose that suit your needs and budget. The prices range for a dedicated web hosting can be from $30 to $100 per month. Yes, a lot higher then the shared one, but you can do almost anything with this hosting plan, along with more server resources you can use.
Co-location Hosting Plan
Co-location server is very similar to the dedicated plan above. The different is, you are the one who buy the server machine and also maintaining it, including here installing the software and many more. You basically only pay for the internet connection and the storage of your server equipment. Co-location hosting is perfect option for anyone who need a full control over their website. Most big online companies use this type of hosting plan since they want a full control for the server and website, beside they have the resources to maintain it.
